Simplicity

E-mail address

I’ve been re-reading a book that accompanied a progam I purchased some time ago. At the time, the whole concept seemed far too simplistic. Well I am coming to reconsider the whole thing. The program is called The Sedona Method. The Sedona method is about relaxing and not being hard on yourself. Specifically it covers releasing wants, desires, emotions and becoming free. That’s it….Let go…release. I have been really coming to appreciate how we often make things more complicated than they have to be.

If you want to try something new: try letting go of perfection and self-criticism for week and see what happens. Still follow through on your responsibilities, but don’t force yourself. I have been reliving the suggestions of the Sedona method and my life has vastly improved in the last while. I’ve had more energy, felt better, and been more productive. Rather than doing a lot of the grunt experimental work, I’ve been clearly visualizing my goals and achieving them. When I take action it is much more guided and much more effective. Best of all I still have time to do the things I want to do. Isn’t that what life is all about?

And the answer is …

Water.

How many times have you heard that you should drink plenty of water?

Probably many times. At any rate, the great news is that water is either free or inexpensive and it’s something you can start getting more of right away.

I’ve been reading the very interesting work of Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, M.D., who feels that many diseases are the result of inadequate hydration…not enough water. Additionally lack of water is the #1 cause of daytime drowsiness. His work involved studying people in prison who were not able to eat much (if anything) but were able to consume water.

One of the main recommendations of Dr. Batmanghelidj is to drink adequate amounts of water. A person that weighs 200 pounds should be drinking between 10-12 glasses a day. Those weighing more or less need to adjust somewhat by a glass or two but that is the general recommendation. Also, he recommends always drinking water before a meal and when you awake in the morning. His book, Water: For Health, for Healing, for Life: You’re Not Sick, You’re Thirsty! , is really interesting and I definitely suggest picking up a copy.

What I’ve just said is something you’ve heard before, but did you listen?

I’m not here to preach, but to me this is a no brainer. I can speak from personal experience. I started increasing my water intake a while back and noticed I started feeling better, had more energy and tended to eat less (which was a good thing since I had been trying to lose a few pounds).

It really started me thinking about some important things:

For people that are really ill, how many of them drink enough water? What if they did?

For people that are constantly buying more supplements or trying the next health craze: how many of them drink enough water? What if they did?

How many doctors ask their patients how much water they’re consuming when they present with a problem?

If everyone were to consume enough water, would this impact sales for the pharmaceutical industry?

Definitely something to think about.

Well that’s it for now.

To your health,

Mystery substance

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

If I told you that I knew of a substance that was readily available for little or NO cost that could really benefit your overall health and energy levels, you’d probably say I’m crazy. And no this is not a sales pitch of any kind. I want to talk about exactly such a substance. What could it be? I’m not telling…well not just yet anyway. It’s something that is so overlooked that when I tell you, you’ll probably laugh or simply shrug it off.

In my next post I’ll reveal what this mystery substance is. Until then, I’ll drop a few hints (if you really want to know what it is I’m sure a little web research will reveal it to you): Lack of this substance is the number one cause of daytime drowsiness. A medical doctor that is a huge proponent of this subtance is Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, M.D. Well enough said for now. Again, I’ll reveal the name of the substance during the next post.

What is Optimum Awareness?

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

You’ve probably noticed this blog is named Optimum Awareness and might be wondering what the heck this refers to? I’ll get to that in a minute, but for now, let’s talk about why I decided to get blogging. Honestly I thought it could be a bit cathartic to speak my mind and thought it might be fun to write what comes to mind in an uncensored fashion. If through the process you’re slightly entertained or get something useful from it, then that’s all the better.

Now back to the question about what Optimum Awareness refers to. Without being too boring let me tell you something: I originally started building websites online and wanted to create a website centering on wellness that could help people. I bought this domain name but quickly moved on once I quickly realized there were a million other people with websites about the same thing. (So yeah, I’ve made some mistakes which I’ll share through this blog so hopefully I can help you steer clear of doing the same thing). And to answer the question: Optimum Awareness, for me, refers to living up to your full potential in all areas of your life and that’s what my site was supposed to be about. From there I went on to establish many other sites in areas that weren’t competitive but I’m back now in an area that really interests me. Rather than worrying about constructing a site about Optimum Awareness, though, I figured I’d start a blog using this original domain and see where things go. However I’m not interested in being an encyclopedic style of blog. I want to see what flows naturally. I want to be myself.

So now you know what Optimum Awareness refers to and what motivated me to get blogging. Where will I go from here? Well for now I’m going to give that some thought and will get back to you in a future post.

Have a good one.

First post

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Hi there. My name is Matthew Wagner. Having attempted the whole blogging thing in the past I’ve always found myself stretched for time and not able to continue on with a blog. However I’d like to at least make another attempt this time with an informal blog and we’ll see where things go from there. I’ll write more in future posts, but I wanted to get this first post up as soon as possible.
